Welcome to The Wavell School!
Transferring from Primary to Secondary School is an exciting time during which the children have the opportunity to do many new things, meet and make new friends, work with new teachers and explore some new subjects but it can also be an unsettling time for both children and their families.
In order to help you find the relevant information within our school website we have created this page as a central hub for all Year 6 to 7 transition information.

Induction Process
Our transition programme aims to give our new Year 7 students and their families the opportunity to find out all about the Wavell and to begin to feel confident about joining us in September.
Contact with our new Year 7 children's current schools will be made after the Easter holidays.
For pupils who attend a Primary school where very few pupils are transferring to Wavell, we organised a visit to enable them to meet other pupils who are in a similar position as well as having an opportunity to ask questions about Wavell and how a secondary school works.
Our Induction Days will be held on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd July 2026 and in the evening of Thursday 2nd July, we hold our Year 6 Parents’ Induction Evening
If you use Facebook we have dedicated closed groups specifically for the parents and carers of children starting each Year. You are encouraged to use this to ask general questions and get to know the Wavell Community.
