Japanese Webpage Competition

Unfortunately our website was not chosen to receive one of the top prizes in the Japanese Webpage Contest for Schools, however we received some very positive comments from the judges.

Shortlisted"It's absolutely wonderful that the Wavell School has entered the contest again, and this has definitely been your strongest entry yet! The design is wonderful - bold, bright and cute, with easy navigation; it probably has one of the best designs in the whole competition. We enjoyed all your photos and sketches showing how to draw manga - what a great idea! The enthusiasm and love for Japanese at your school really shines through..... we're all hoping it does really well in Public Vote - please keep on your campaign to get more votes!"

Manga Workshop – Friday 13th February 2015

We love Yuki! She came back to visit us just before her return to Japan.

Yuki spent lunch with us and the day with the Art Department leading workshops on how to draw “chibi” – the style of drawing characters with oversized heads and child-like features.

She also showed us some wonderful ideas for costumes that our chibi characters could be wearing.

New Year Celebration - 9th January 2015

2015 is the Year of the Sheep and we welcomed the New Year by
asking our Head Teacher, Ms Rowley, to officially cut the ribbon,
with a samurai sword of course, to unleash the all-new,
all-improved Japanese Club Website.

Is it a coincidence that this is the year Aardman Animations choose to release Shaun the Sheep: The Movie? We think not.

We are excited about 2015 as we will be busy planning for the whole school cross-curricular Japan Day on Monday 13th July.
