Aim of the Core PE Curriculum
To promote a life-long love of sport and health through enjoyable lessons and a broad curriculum, with opportunities for all, within a Physical Education learning environment.
To harness an environment within PE and sport which can teach students to be confident, driven and well-rounded individuals who appreciate the importance of sport and can apply and transfer skills to future pathways.
This is underpinned by a focus on our Wavell PE core values – The PE ABC’s, Be Active, Demonstrate Brilliance, Engage in Competition.
The knowledge the students will have by the end of the course:
Students will have a good understanding of how to utilise tactics and strategies within games based scenarios inclusive of striking and fielding, outwitting opponents and net and wall contexts.
Students will develop foundational theoretical knowledge of physical education and will demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts relating to health, fitness, and the functioning of the body in physical activity.
Pupils will be able to explore creativity within PE through Dance, Gymnastics and Outdoor and Adventurous Activities.
Students will be able to analyse and evaluate their own and others’ performance, using feedback and understanding of key performance principles to inform and implement improvements.

Extra-curricular Clubs and Activities
PE Clubs & Fixtures can be found on the Weekly Wave
All details are also updated on the PE Noticebaord in School for the students.
Please note:
It is the students' responsibility to inform parents of the time at which they need collecting from School after a fixture and of cancellations.
This is particularly important with PE fixtures as the days and times differ due to the locations therefore students may return from school anywhere between 4:30 and 6.30pm
Students will be told the details by the relevant member of staff prior to the event. If necessary students are able to call parents from reception regarding collection arrangements.
