Year 7 Puzzle Day 2025
On Thursday 10th July 2025, it was Puzzle Day for our Year 7 students.
The Year 7’s were set a variety of mathematical, logic and physical challenges to challenge their problem solving abilities. Split up into House teams of up to 7 students, the teams competed against each other in their House to be crowned overall winners as well as competing to be the top House of the year, needing to use teamwork, organisational and communication skills to succeed in the six tasks - Tantrix; Stepping Stones; Hula Hoop race; Build a Cube; The Acid River; Frogs on a Log.
One of the tasks was the Acid River, where students had to pick up a ball and spoon before carefully crossing a bench. If they dropped the ball or fell off the bench they had to return to the start to begin again. Only one student was allowed on a bench at once and they had to pick up the egg and spoon and couldn’t be handed it.
Another task was Stepping Stones, where students had to navigate a pathway from one side of their area to another, only able to step on the correct “stones”. Students would be made to start from the beginning of the path if they stepped in the incorrect place, and only completed once all members of their team had successfully navigated the path.
Puzzle Day 2025
The competition was incredibly tight. Well done to Terra 3 for being the top team overall at Puzzle Day and Aqua for being the overall House winners.
Congratulations to each of the students who took part and thank you to the Year 9 helpers and the Year 10 prefects who assisted the Maths Faculty.
