Year 11 Food Masterclass
On Tuesday 26th February the Year 11 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students had the privilege of watching a Masterclass presented by ex –Wavell student James Spray.
James studied GCSE Food Technology 7 years ago, and went on to complete a Catering course at Farnborough College of Technology. Despite his young age James has already had a very successful career, and is now the personal chef to Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Duchess of Wessex.
During the afternoon James prepared, cooked and presented beetroot pasta and sweet and sour pork with egg fried rice, both products being linked to the GCSE practical exam themes provided by the exam board.
The students were impressed by James’ organisation and ability to stay calm under the pressure of producing food in a limited amount of time. This was really useful for the students to observe, and they will need to demonstrate such attributes in their 3 hour practical exam in few weeks time.
Whilst cooking James answered questions and gave an insight into his career progression and what life is like working for the Royal Family.
It was a fantastic afternoon, and the food was amazing! Thanks so much to James for coming back to inspire the next generation of Food Prep students.
