Wickes Wellbeing Challenge
We are grateful to Wickes for inviting us to be one of 14 schools who were asked to take on the Wickes Challenge 2024-25. A team of staff from Wickes came into school for the whole day on Thursday 3rd October to work with our Year 10 Design & Technology students.
Students, in teams, completed a Community Wellbeing Challenge which involved them choosing an area around the school to re-design and consider the ways it could be brought to life using a budget of £2000. They produced advertising, posters, plans and product lists for their new area and also had to come up with solutions to the problems that customers may encounter when visiting Wickes or using their products. The students then presented their pitch to the rest of the Year Group and we were incredibly proud of the confidence they demonstrated and their superb innovative ideas – some of which Mrs Wright will be adding to an action plan!
Huge congratulations to Brooke, Skye, Frankie, Alfie and Jasmine who were the winning team with their energetic and upbeat presentation. They will now be invited to Watford in November to pitch their ideas to Wickes HQ where the winning team on that day will receive £2,000 to bring their idea to life!
Update:
Following the Wickes Challenge in school last month, our winning team of 5 Year 10 students spent the day at Wickes HQ on 12th November 2024 for the finals where £2000 was up for grabs! Unfortunately we didn't win but we had a great experience nonetheless and the students were fantastic representatives for the school.
