Rotary Writing Competition Winner
Earlier this term the Wavell School sent several entries to The Rotary Club Writing Competition which required young people to write a story, poem or non-fictional piece on the theme of ‘Connections’ of 500 words or less.
Our entries covered a wide range of forms and ideas. The Farnborough judging panel said, “The quality of the entries was extremely high and the varying approaches to the topic “Connections” fascinating”.
We are delighted to announce that Tashantie Thomas Yr9 has won the local heat in the Intermediate Group (aged 11-13 years old) and will receive a trophy and a certificate. Her poem will also go through to the District Competition and we wait to find out if she will progress any further in the competition.
The National Finalist will receive a vocational experience, such as working in a newspaper or publishing environment with a professional. We wish Tashantie the best of luck.
The following students will also receive a runners-up certificate from Farnborough Rotary Club:
Isobel Chesney, Libby-Beth Eyre, Lauren Hughes, Hollie Campbell, Fatimah Abubukr, Princess Reyes, Jarred Addison, Turner Noad
Well done all.
