Richard III ‘wows’ audiences in Bracknell

On the 19th and 20th of October 2017 the Wavell Shakespeare Schools Company performed Richard III. This was Shakespeare’s play with a ‘twist’.

The performance was designed around a particular style of acting. The most recent example would be from 'The Play That Goes Wrong' currently selling out in the West End and also ‘The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’.

The idea is that version of Richard III is performed by some very well meaning, but unfortunately 'ham' actors who belong to ‘The Farnashot Townswomens’Guild Amateur Theatre Company’. They try really hard to be very good, but in actual fact are just terrible. So, Shakespeare’s play in our version has become ‘Richard III the comedy’!

The cast produced outstanding performances on both nights and received rave reviews from a professional theatre director and from their audience.

Well done team!

Richard III and Othello will both be performed at School on 25th and 26th January 2018. Tickets will be available shortly.
