Reindeer & Elf Run!

Reindeer runOn Friday 19th December Year 7 and Year 8 took part in Wavell’s first Reindeer and Elf Run in support of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. Students did a minimum of three laps of the school site, waving every time they passed Ms Rowley’s office. It was a wonderful sight to see!

It was absolutely fantastic to see all of the students dressed up, super enthusiastic and embracing the challenge! The students thought it was also great seeing so many of their teachers joining in; dressing in Santa suits or other fancy dress, running or walking with the students.

PTHThe total sponsorship money raised was a whopping

£3530.57!!! ...The biggest donation to date from any Reindeer or Elf Run. Out of the 24 Schools taking part The Wavell was the most generous!

Students who took part will be receiving certificates from The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as a token of gratitude. Vicki Collins, Phyllis Tuckell Community Fundraiser said “It is fabulous that The Wavell have joined us this year and we hope that it may be a regular event for you each year in aid of the Hospice. 2014 was our biggest year yet with 24 schools taking part so who knows how big 2015 will be! Thank you so much.”

reindeerThe money raised by the students granted the Hospice patients’ and their families’ wishes this Christmas. Just £20 paid for a delicious Christmas lunch for a patient and a visitor on Christmas Day or £56 paid for a nurse to visit a patient on Christmas Day to deliver the love and care they need at such a difficult time. The Hospice can only do this with your help – so thank you!

Well done Year 7 Reindeer and Year 8 Elves! Can you you spot yourselves in the gallery?
