Poetry by Heart 2023
Year 9 put Miss Hill and Mrs Waters through their paces in judging of the final of the Poetry by Heart Competition on Wednesday 22nd February 2023.
All Year 9 students had to learn a GCSE poem off by heart in 4 weeks and perform it to their English classes before going forward to the final. The students in the final were the best of the best, being the three highest performing students from each class.
They performed their poems fantastically and it was the tightest competition we have ever had with only 7 marks between those at the top and bottom end of the table.
Special congratulations goes to the top 3 students who will take to the stage to perform their poems once more in the Wavell World Book Day assembly to Year 7-10 next week.

The Year group as a whole showed fantastic dedication to this and we are very proud of them all.
