Notre voyage en Normandie

by Anushka and Lauren G  Year 11

Our trip to Normandy from 23rd - 26th February 2024 was a memorable experience that we will cherish.

On day one, after we arrived, we roamed the local village of Bernières-sur-Mer and gained an authentic experience of a French seaside town.

On day two we awoke early and headed to a cheese factory where we witnessed the production of the local French cheeses, which we were able to taste! Next on the itinerary was the beautiful town of Arromanches which has such dark history behind it! At the D-Day Museum we learnt how the tranquil beaches of today were once a battleground in World War II. We finished our day with evening entertainment which, to our surprise, was bowling!

We started day three with a visit to the 'Caramel Farm' and discovered how caramels are produced in France. Some students even had the opportunity to herd the cows and we bought some delicious caramels to bring home! Following this we were enlightened by the rich history of Bayeux and in the evening we were treated to pizza, and a fun, but competitive, quiz!

On our last day we visited the town of Honfleur and explored the picturesque cobbled streets and bakeries. We ended our visit to France by raiding the French hypermarket, Carrefour!

Thank you to the teachers' amazing efforts to make this trip memorable.

C'était incroyable!
