Wavell Athletes Medal Haul at Senior Districts

The sun was shining on The Palmer Park Sports Ground in Reading on Tuesday 21st May and the Wavell athletes shone just as brightly with their performances!

The team of 21 athletes set off to the stadium having trained regularly at school over the past few weeks and their efforts were rewarded in spectacular fashion!

The following all won medals in their event, competing against athletes from 12 or more schools each time….

Year 9

Unek Mabo – Silver (Shot)

Oscar Donaldson – Bronze (Triple Jump)

Year 10

Tyler Winters – Silver (Triple Jump) & Bronze (200m)

Lily Kendall – Gold (Discus)

Chloe Armsworth – Bronze (High Jump)

Dan Hicks – Silver (High Jump)

Noah Arden-Murphy – Bronze (High Jump)

We also won three of the main ‘showpiece events’ with Ellie Head and Ephraim Ebot both winning Gold in their respective 100m finals, followed by Dan Hicks, Tyler Winters, Kennedy Nhandara & Ephraim Ebot combining to win the boys 4x100m relay… and by some distance!

Miss Jones, Mr Panons and Mr Mills were extremely proud of the squad they took with them, with Director of PE Mr Panons adding that;

“the students’ hard work and dedication to their individual disciplines was fully rewarded today and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. A great set of results!”
