Girls into STEM
On Thursday 20th June 2019, 23 girls from Year 9 attended a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Day at The Village Hotel in Farnborough. Sponsored by Fluor, the event was designed to allow girls to find out about different careers, meet and interact with female role models who are already working with the STEM industries and dispel myths about working in these areas.
The girls had a great day and enjoyed the interactive exhibits and participating in the Fluor Challenge where they had to build a catapult and a receptacle to catch the missile. This was followed by lunch and then a chance to talk to the role models in small groups. The day was finished with a Q&A session and the girls were all given a goody bag to bring home.
