The Wavell School celebrates GCSE success 

Students and staff at The Wavell School are celebrating a positive set of GCSE results for 2026, marking another important step in the school’s continuing journey of transformation and its ambition to secure the very best outcomes for young people.

It has been a very positive day at The Wavell School as our Year 11 students collected their GCSE results and took the next step in their individual journeys. Their achievements sit within the wider story of our transformative journey as a school, and reflect the growing confidence and ambition that we are seeing across Wavell. 

This year’s results are especially pleasing because they reflect the progress being made across the school. Behind the grades are students who have worked hard, staff who have believed in them, and a shared commitment to helping every young person leave Wavell ready for the future. 

There is much to celebrate this summer, and we are particularly thrilled to see an increase in the number of students achieving strong passes in both English and Maths, as well as more students securing grades at the very top end. These gains matter because they show the difference that belief, consistency and a strong partnership between home and school can make. 

Headteacher Emma Wright said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and all that they have achieved. Their results are part of a bigger picture of positive change at The Wavell School and reflect the determination shown by our students, supported by the staff who have encouraged them throughout the year.” 

Mrs Wright also recognised the important role of the wider school community, particularly families and staff, in helping students feel prepared for their next steps. 

She added: “Results day is always a special moment in the school year. It was wonderful to see students celebrating with their families and with the staff who have been part of their journey. Days like this remind us why our work matters and why we are so ambitious for the future of the school.”
