BAE Systems Challenge 2019
23rd ANNUAL STEM CHALLENGE
On Thursday 13th June, we were delighted to take a team of five Year 10 students to take part in this exciting and prestigious annual engineering challenge.
Hosted and designed by BAE Systems, at their flagship building in Farnborough, the event aimed to get students completing an engineering challenge, using their science and technology knowledge, problem-solving and developing team working skills.
The challenge was to design a supplies vehicle, powered only by an elastic band, and to design and build a mechanism to release the vehicle. Not only that but the team had to present their ideas and design to a panel of experts (the Dragons).
The Team, the Wavellites, made up of Elise, Megan, Santiago, Kalen and Sam, had a fantastic time and enjoyed everything about the day. They even scooped the Dragon’s Choice prize for which they brought back an amazing picture of a submarine.
