Intermediate Maths Challenge

High performing Year 9 and 10 students are invited to take part in the national United Kingdom Mathematics Trust 2026 Intermediate Maths Challenge on Wednesday 28th January 2026. This will take place in school, under formal exam conditions, during Tutor time and Lesson 1.

The challenge involves answering 25 multiple-choice questions in a one-hour time slot and once the test has finished the papers are sent off to be centrally marked. Official results usually come through to us within 3-6 weeks and there are awards for the top achievers. The top 40% of students nationally receive either a gold, silver or bronze certificate. The top 500 highest scorers in each school year nationwide are normally invited to take part in the next round, known as Olympiad papers.
