How will my child be assessed and how will I know how well they are doing in Engineering Programmable Systems in Year 11?

Students will be assessed on Unit R047 with a MOCK examination in November/ December yr11 and a mark will be awarded.

Students complete a practice task for Unit R049 in the Autumn Term.  They will then undertake Unit R049 assessment work in class during the Autumn / Spring Term which will be worth 30% of their overall grade.  Grades will be available on Satchel and are subject to exam board moderation.

Students’ progress that is below expectation on coursework assessments will be required to attend after school catch-up sessions and parents will be notified through a phone call or email home.

What homework will my child be expected to do in Year 11 in Engineering Programmable Systems?

Students will be set weekly examination questions and revision homework that they will be expected to spend around 1 hour completing. Access to a computer and the internet will be required for some homework tasks.

How can I support my child to do well in Engineering Programmable Systems during Year 11?

  • Ensure they complete their homework properly
  • Support them by ensuring they have somewhere suitable to work, away from distractions but with online access as required.
  • Buy a revision guide (order forms available to download via this website)
  • Support them to revise and prepare properly for each test
  • Encourage them to attend after school catch-up sessions if they fall behind with their work

My child is struggling during the course, what additional help is available to help them keep up?

  • After school catch up sessions for coursework will be available.
  • Students should be encouraged to seek assistance from their teacher when they are struggling with any concept.
