We Care to Challenge

Gremlin Dance Challenge 2018

For the 8th year running Wavell KS4 Dancers are placed in the top 3 schools at the Gremlin Dance Challenge – a competition for the whole of N.E. Hampshire - which was held on 15th March at the Princes Hall, Aldershot.

This year was the third time we have entered a KS3 team.

KS3 was choreographed by Miss Mckie and the KS4 piece was choreographed by students with some ‘fine tuning’ from Miss McKie.

The Year 10 performance won the award for ‘Best Choreography’ (an award Wavell has won more often than most other schools) and 3rd place overall. The dance was based on the ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations in Mexico.

The KS3 piece created with Year 9 students also won 3rd place and was a story about the celebration of soldiers returning from the trenches. This piece had a very poignant ending as  one of the dancers discovers her partner has died in the fighting.

Congratulations to both sets of performers who were an absolute credit to The Wavell!
