We Care to Challenge

Charity Fun Run

On Friday 18th December Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in Wavell’s, now annual, fundraising event in support of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. Dressed as reindeer, elves or Santas, students completed a minimum of three laps of the school field, even the staff joined in. It was a wonderful sight to see!

It was absolutely fantastic to see all of the students dressed up, super enthusiastic and embracing the challenge! The students thought it was also great seeing so many of their teachers joining in; dressing in Santa suits or other fancy dress, running or walking with the students.

The sponsorship envelopes that were brought in on the day and since our return have been counted and it is reported by Phyllis Tuckwell that Wavell have raised the fantastic amount of £6082.82, over £2500 more than last year! Charli Quay-Barnham, Phyllis Tuckell Community Fundraiser said “It was fabulous, great job getting in so many sponsor forms, it took two of us to carry the box out! Thank you once again for supporting us, the money the students have raised will allow us to continue the work we do at the hospice and out in the community. Thank you so much.”

The money raised by the students granted the patients’ of the hospice and their families’ wishes this Christmas. Just £20 paid for a delicious Christmas lunch for a patient and a visitor on Christmas Day or £56 paid for a nurse to visit a patient on Christmas Day to deliver the love and care they need at such a difficult time. The hospice can only do this with your help – so thank you!

Well done Year 7 Reindeer, Year 8 Elves and Year 9 Santas!
